5 Step procedure for Ultra Surface® 1/4" STAMPING System

Step 1 - Surface Preparation
Step 2 - Crack Repair
Step 3 - Patching holes, spalls and low spots
Step 4 - Spreading the Squeegee/Bond Coat and 1/4" Stamping Mix
Step 5 - Troweling, Stamping, Antiquing and Sealing

Step 4 - Spreading the Squeegee/Bond Coat and 1/4" Stamping Mix

Once the surface preparation, crack repair, joint repair and patching (if needed) is completed, the next step is to apply a Squeegee/Bond Coat Mix and 1/4" Stamping Mix of Ultra Surface® Polymer Concrete. The 1/4" Stamping Mix should be applied in large or small sections at a time depending on the experience of the stamping crew. Usually within one to two hours after spreading it can be stamped to the desired pattern or texture (click here to see patterns and textures available).

Prepare the surface by power scrubbing with detergent and acid washing or shotblasting as shown here for commercial jobs.

Fig. 2
Repair cracks and joints. Fill cracks and joints with Epoxy 500 then cover with Elastomeric Basecoat and 4" Fabric. Mark the ends of all joints so they can be sawcut back open the day after stamping.

Mask off walls and surrounding areas with plastic then apply a Squeegee/Bond Coat using the Metal Edge Squeegee.

Fig. 4
Dump the Stamping Mix out of a wheelbarrow onto the wet Squeegee Coat Mix and spread small amounts (135 sq. ft.) at a time so each section is 20 - 30 minutes behind each other.

Fig. 5
While wearing spiked shoes, spread the Stamping Mix over the wet Squeegee/Bond Coat Mix using the Ultra Surface® Gauge Rake.

Fig. 6
Immediately follow behind the gauge rake with a concrete fresno to smooth out the surface and fill in the gauge rake lines.
